Surrendering A Pet

At Eastshore Humane Association, we are committed to serving not only Calumet County but all individuals in need of surrendering a beloved pet or helping a stray animal find a safe haven. Our mission is to provide compassionate care, find loving homes, and work alongside local municipalities to control the stray pet population.

Why Choose Eastshore Humane Association?

Compassionate Surrender Process: We understand that surrendering a pet can be a difficult and emotional decision. At Eastshore, we prioritize the well-being of both the animals and their owners. We require appointments for surrendering pets to ensure that we can provide personalized attention and support during this transition.

Collaboration with Local Authorities: We actively collaborate with local municipalities to address the issue of stray pets in our community. Through strategic partnerships and initiatives, we aim to promote responsible pet ownership and reduce the number of animals without homes.

Transparent Fees: To cover the cost of caring for surrendered animals, we request a fee upon surrender. These fees contribute to essential services such as veterinary care, food, shelter, and enrichment activities. We believe in transparency and accountability in our financial practices.

What to Expect When Surrendering a Pet

Appointment Required: Please schedule an appointment before surrendering your pet. This allows us to allocate resources effectively and provide the best possible care for your pet during their stay at our shelter.

Documentation: Bring any veterinary records you have for your pet. This information helps us better understand their medical history and tailor our care accordingly.

Surrender Paperwork: Be prepared to complete surrender paperwork. This documentation ensures that we have all necessary information about your pet, including behavioral traits, medical needs, and any other relevant details.

Updates on Surrendered Pets

While we understand the desire for updates on surrendered pets, we regret to inform you that we are unable to provide specific updates on individual animals. With an average of 70-90 animals in our shelter each month, our resources are limited, and our priority is to ensure the well-being of all animals under our care. Rest assured that we are dedicated to finding loving homes for every animal entrusted to us.
